THE PINE RIVER is Lower Michigan's fastest moving stream, with frequent riffles and occasional rapids throughout. While the rapids of the Pine are not considered big according to whitewater standards, scattered large rocks and bedrock ledges create small standing waves and require a fair amount of maneuvering. We don't recommend the Pine for small children or first time paddlers. The Pine is also under a Forest Service permit system limiting watercraft use. We are relocating to the junction of M-55 and M-37 for the summer-Wellston area. South from Mesick, West from Cadillac, North from Baldwin and East from Manistee.
